Bowman Painting is thankful the storm spared our area what could have been a devastating landfall with sustained damage. However, we are moved to help those who weren’t spared. We’ve seen the videos and photos of the tragedy unfolding in the Bahamas and want to give aide to help them in their sincere time of need. Therefore, we’d like to host a supply drive for Island Outreach.
Disaster relief efforts in the Bahamas through “Island Outreach: Missions to the Bahamas.” Pastor Randy and Paula Crowe who lead this ministry have been ministering in the Bahamas for 40 years, and Randy went and pastored there himself for many years. On the island where he pastored, 80% of the homes are uninhabitable after Hurricane Dorian, and nearby Marsh Harbour is devastated as has been shown on the news. Pastor Randy will be flying over as soon as the Marsh Harbour runway is available (water subsided) with some initial supplies for the relief efforts, but they will need much more. If you are able and willing to contribute items, bring them Tuesday, 9/10 or Thursday 9/12 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. to our new office: 123 N. Orchard St., Unit 1-B in Ormond Beach. They will be part of a larger shipment next week.
Here is the list of items to help with immediate short- term needs:
- Small chainsaws (10+)
- Oil for 2-cycle engine (cases)
- Flashlights and batteries. Hands-free options would be helpful. (i.e.- headlights)
- Solar lights – if possible (power will be off for months)
- Tarps (any size)
- Rope (to tie down tarps)
- Powdered Gatorade
- Protein bars
- MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat)
- Diapers – all sizes
- Baby wipes – and lots of them
(Note: food items need to be new and non perishable)
We are so thankful that Hurricane Dorian weakened and stayed off shore, and we continue to pray for those still in its path and for those recovering from its devastation – in particular for those in the Bahamas.

Their first run to the Bahamas is this weekend but they’re committed to continuing runs for as long as it takes to rebuild the communities they faithful ministered to for so long. When they return, we will send an updated list of requests items and host future collections.
